Vision & Mission
We envision a world with an emergence of growing networks of communities and systems arising to replace the more extractive models of the current paradigm.

Our Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a space where nature and community flourish together. By developing practical, earth-friendly systems right here at the Cove, we create a living model for shared growth. We are dedicated to learning alongside one another, sharing those lessons openly, and building a resilient community where every generation can contribute to a more vibrant and connected future.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
-Margaret Mead
The "Why"
Inspired by Margaret Mead’s belief that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world, we began to envision a sanctuary for those seeking a deeper sense of connection.
We recognized that the modern pursuit of success can often leave us feeling isolated, but we believe that in uncertain times, a vibrant community is our most valuable asset.
Treska’s was born from a desire to bridge those gaps—creating a retreat center where people can explore the beautiful interrelatedness of all life. Here, we move away from disconnection and toward a shared journey of spiritual growth, conscious understanding, and the enduring strength of together.

Family at the Center
The Lindsey family story began just three miles away, on a sun-drenched seven-acre homestead. The matriarch of the family, Treska, was happiest with her hands in the soil, cultivating a garden that fed both our bodies and our spirits. Her favorite refrain at the dinner table was: "Everything on this table was picked today."
That homegrown passion naturally blossomed into a larger calling. When the Lindsey family moved to Highland Lake, they brought that homestead heart with them, transitioning from a private garden to a public gathering place. As they began the journey together in hospitality, founding the Highland Lake Inn and its restaurant, they realized that the simple magic of a shared, garden-fresh meal was something the whole world was craving.
Today, Treska’s stands as the next chapter of that legacy—a place where the same warmth, freshness, and family spirit continue to grow.
Real Places
When the vision for the surrounding neighborhoods began to take shape in 1998, the slogan was “Real places: creating a town that works.”
What creates a real place?
-
Real food - Connection to the environment that grows the food, the gardening process, and the harvesting and preparation of the food
-
Purpose - Creating deeper meaning and the opportunity for real connection
-
Real People - Authentic people, questing for the best life, and bringing their passions and purpose to their life’s work

Renewable Business
Treska's is focused on creating alternatives for an ailing world, bringing visionaries together, and taking good notes about the lessons we learn.
It's time to build a better future - to enhance the health of our living & economic systems for the generations to come.
It is our hope to make Highland Lake Cove into an example of what a renewable future look like.
